New Mexico has been operating in the red for over a year—thanks to a drop in oil and gas prices, years’ worth of ineffective tax cuts, and a sluggish economy. As lawmakers craft a new budget for the year ahead during the just-started legislative session, they will need to raise new revenue in order to avoid more harmful spending cuts. This presentation looks at ways to do that. Presented to the League of Women Voters of NM.
