New data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities says New Mexico is well-prepared for the next economic downturn — in some areas.

The analysis ranked states on four measures: budget reserves, unemployment insurance systems, Medicaid accessibility and affordable public colleges and universities. It was released in partnership with Albuquerque nonprofit New Mexico Voices for Children.

New Mexico scored among the top states in the budget reserve and Medicaid categories.
