FARMINGTON — State Sen. Steve Neville, R-Farmington, has been appointed to the new Tax Policy Advisory Committee, which will analyze the state’s tax code and prepare a report for the governor.
The new committee and its members were announced last week in a press release.
It is one of two committees that the governor has created to study the tax system and make recommendations for changes that will ensure fairness, efficiency and equity. The two committees are chaired by the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke.
“Tax policy is an important way we express our values as a state and raise the revenue to meet our goals,” Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said in the press release. “These committees will study reform measures thoroughly and help us make sure we get it right.”
