New data show more than 4 million people have lost SNAP benefits since 2025 law
VIRTUAL- July 21, 2026 – More than 4 million people nationwide have lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits since enactment of the 2025 reconciliation law, according to new data. Advocates and policy experts warn the losses are increasing food insecurity for children and families while shifting significant costs to states.
National experts will discuss the latest findings, the impact on families and state budgets, and the need for congressional action to prevent additional SNAP benefit losses. Members of the media are invited to join this national press call.
WHAT: The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics will host a virtual press call to discuss new SNAP participation data, the growing consequences for children and families, and the need for Congress to respond to the ongoing decline in SNAP enrollment following enactment of the 2025 reconciliation law.
