Biography

At five years old, I started going with my mother to a soup kitchen twice a month. I couldn't cook, so I filled drinks, carried plates for people, and played checkers with the diners. We did this for several years until we moved from that area.

Once I learned to read, she and I went to our local library on Saturdays and volunteered by shelving books. Later on I didn't need my mom and went on my own. I worked at the Summer Reading Program at the library, helping younger students and the librarians about fifteen hours a week.

For the past few years, I have been the sound technician at my church, as well as the youngest Elder in the church's 10 year history. I am a member of Big Brother/Big Sister, as well as Key Club International. As a member of my school's culinaryarts program, I volunteer several hours a month after school and on the weekends to cater for the program. Finally, I donate one of my class periods to tutor other students in the school.
