My name is Malorie C. Owens. I am 19 years old. I am half Navajo and half Hispanic. I was born in Gallup, New Mexico on March 11, 2987. I have two older brothers - Mike and Mitch and two younger sisters - Kia and K-lyn. My parents are Roy C. and Carole H. Owens. Currently, I am attending University of New Mexico in Gallup, New Mexico. I am enrolled in the Associates of Arts degreein Liberal Arts.

When I was 15 years old I was recruited and offered a job with the Boys and Girls Club in Gallup, New Mexico. Iworked at the club after school and on weekends. I assisted the club director wth operating the summer baseball program. I also assisted in the operations of the concession stands for the club. I enjoyed my involvement with the club and with the children who participated in the club programs. I worked for the Boys and Girls Club for approximately 3 1/2 years when I decided to attend college on a full time basis.

While employed with the Boys and Girls Club I participated in Toys for Tots programs with the local police department. I enjoyed being involved in this effort to make a better world for the local children.

Presently I am an assistant coach for the 7-8 year old basketball program for the city of Gallup, New Mexico. I volunteer my time and services to the children because I enjoy working with children. I make myself available to the children if they want to talk about certain issues they may have. I try to be a person who they can look up to and hopefully make the right decisions in their lives.
